As we go further south on the South Island's West Coast, the scenery gets more wet and wild. In particular, there exists a pair of glaciers that are amongst the fastest moving in the world - the Franz Josef Glacier and the Fox Glacier. Given a mix of frequent rains and melting snow, you can find plenty of waterfalls - many of which are unnamed. As we cross Haast Pass towards the southern Southern Alps, you'll find more snow-fed waterfalls along the walls of the Haast River Valley. Such waterfalls along this stretch of the Southern Alps include Thunder Creek Falls and Fantail Falls.
