Firehole Falls is a small waterfall that flows on the Firehole River. The river itself has a popular swimming spot because it's sufficiently warm enough to swim. However, this can only be safely done later in the summer when the water levels are lower. This was certainly not the case during our late June 2004 trip, especially given the foul weather we experienced. To reach the falls, go south of the Madison Junction for about a half-mile or so where the Grand Loop Road junctions with the one-way Firehole Canyon Drive. Follow the road for about a mile to its well-signed overlook and parking area.
