Upper Mesa Falls is a spectacularly wide and tall waterfall that is reminiscent of a miniature Niagara Falls. It is the feature attraction of the Mesa Falls Scenic Byway and is definitely worth the side trip to get here, especially if you're going to/from the West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park (some 36 miles to the north of here). A long, well-developed loop trail takes you along the Henry's Fork affording you views of the beautiful waterfall from several angles and perspectives as well as from its brink. There's also a restored hotel called the Big Falls Inn here, but it's more like a museum and not so much a hotel in the conventional sense. Nonetheless, given all these features, if you're in the area, don't miss this falls!
