The ephemeral "El Capitan Falls" is noticed mostly by rock climbers at Camp 4 or by hikers on the Yosemite Falls Trail. Due to the falls' somewhat close proximity to the eastern end of El Capitan, I've given this waterfall its unofficial name after the giant monolith. This waterfall marginally counts as a legitimate waterfall due to its short season, but it's on par with some of the other named ephemeral waterfalls in the park (e.g. Widow's Tears, Staircase Falls, and Horsetail Falls).

A rare time when record snowpack (we were here in Spring of 2005 after getting most of Seattle's rain) made this waterfall go over the Yosemite Falls Trail creating a potentially tricky obstacle like this one.
Tell us about your experience with this waterfall.
