Staircase Falls is one of two named ephemeral waterfalls (the other being Horsetail Falls). It got its name from the way its watercourse steps down a series of granite ledges. Given its short-lived nature, it's quite easy to overlook this waterfall. You can find this waterfall stepping its way down the granite cliffs behind Curry Village. However, the views improve as you walk further away from Curry Village onto the boardwalk cutting across Stoneman Meadow. The falls seems to have its strongest flow in the Early Spring meaning around March or April depending on the snowpack.
